Ways to utilize your stockpile.

We often get asked "Why should I stockpile...or why do you stockpile?". While there are many answers to this question, I wanted to give you an idea of how stockpiling by two families paid off in savings in a big way. Recently my family traveled on vacation to the beach. All together there was 8 of us that went. Normally on our vacation it would not be unusual for us to spend 300-400.00 dollars on groceries for the week to feed the two families. However, this year we decided to work on our "list" weeks ahead and bring along as much as possible for free or cheap. We always rent a house or condo, so we have to fully stock the kitchen and many items around the house such as paper products. Both families brought totes of food and supplies. We brought items such as coffee, paper towels, condiments, drinks, sunscreen, peanut butter, cereal, soap, toothpaste, shampoo, ect. just to names few. When we went to the grocery for mainly cold items like milk, eggs, and cheese. The savings this year was great and for a great deal of mine, I just opened my stockpile and tossed it in a tote, threw it in the back of the truck and off we went! I estimate that between the two families we provided $400.00+ of free/super cheap food and supplies! A lot of the stuff we brought was samples or freebies that we signed up for, like our free ronco pasta! Hope that gives you an idea of how much savings you can rack up with a little thoughtful planning, and as always remember that so many o your local charities would love to have any of your stockpile items, especially with winter quickly approaching!
